Particleboard is a composite panel product consisting of wood particles of various sizes that are bonded together with a synthetic resin or binder under heat and pressure. Particleboard panels are manufactured in a variety of dimensions and with a wide range of physical properties that provides maximum design flexibility for specifiers and end users. Its smooth, dense and non-porous surface makes particleboard an ideal substrate for a variety of overlays, including melamine, thin papers, wood veneer, and high-pressure laminates.

Nicholson and Cates carries a wide selection of M-2 Grade Particleboard that meets ANSI A208.1-2009 specifications and satisfy CARB’s Phase 2 formaldehyde emission limits of 0.09 ppm.
The standard M-2 Particleboard can potentially contribute to achieving up to 4 LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) points, and up to 6 LEED points with an FSC certified and no added urea formaldehyde product.
Flame Spread Index
All Particleboard and NAUF products meet the Class 3 or C ULC 723-10 (ASTM E84) requirements concerning the Flame Spread Index (between 76 and 200) and the Smoke Development (maximum 450).
